5,4.3,2,1! Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka! 31st August comes through the year. We always hear those kind of countdown and words. All Malaysians celebrate Independence Day everywhere not only in their house, education institutions or work places, some people from all over the country are willing to celebrate this meaningful day at Dataran Merdeka to show their patriotism. But I am wondering something in my mind. What Merdeka Day means to them? Are they just look at it as only a tradition of our beloved country? Or perhaps some of the Malaysians really feel the sacrifaction of our warriors protected our country from fall into the wrong person's hands.
Merdeka and what it means to me? For me, Merdeka is a Malay language meaning independence which show that we are free from invaders either directly through terrorism or indirectly through western culture and community problems. Yes,we are free from terrorism . Anybody can deny it. But do we free from western culture and community problems that invade some of our people? Absolutely, not! For me, to achieve the truly "Merdeka" is by cleansing both of these two aspects from our people's mind. What Merdeka means if we keep absorbing the western culture while the eastern culture that must we have and conquer, we just leave it behind and forget about it completely meanwhile our warriors some times ago were willing to give their body and soul just to save our country from being conquered from western invaders?
Nowadays, we can look in the newspapers, televisions, internet and other communication technologies, Malaysians especially teenagers are tends to absorb western culture. Why was this happened? Kuala Lumpur especially we can see that almost the youth there are wearing clothes which are completely out from our culture. Our culture thought us politeness not sexiness or weirdness! Please remember that. Every races have their own identity. Malay is known with baju kurung and baju melayu, Chinese is known with Cheongsam, Kebarung Nyonya, Indian with their saree and so on. Are we just forget these kind of fits that remind us about our ancestor?
In the other hand, research had found out that almost 50 percents of community problems is cause of social problems among teenagers. Every second, every minutes or we can say every single of time our country, Malaysia is not in peaceful state or in the other word, "Merdeka" state. Why I said so? This is because teenagers mainly always acting out of their mind. They do not realise that their behaviour will destroy their future. As we can see, Independence Day celebration itself tends the youngsters to act in improper way. A celebration that actually we should celebrate it in a very peaceful, politeness and feel it with our deep heart but they show their 'patriotism' with free sex party, illegal races and so much to be listed here. Are those celebrations are the right ways in order to show our love to the country? You have the answer right?

Could you imagine how bad a mother throwing her baby like a trash without any sympathy? This is completely out of human being! This case is always happening to underage girls or women that have gave birth illegal babies. How come a little baby could bears his parents' fault? He not ask to be born in this world. This is what we called insane! Even animals love their child, how can a human that has been given a brain to think what is right and what is wrong, act out of our culture and religion. Fighting between students always occurs. They fight just because of a reason that should not be happened. For examples, fighting for a girl who they like, a kettle, a place or some more. They want to show off which gang is more powerful but actually they do not know that this will lead to other effect such as murder.

In matter of fact, Merdeka bring a lot of positive impacts that we can see in Malaysia. From 1957 to 2008, 51 years show us a lot of development. The first years of independence, Tunku Abdul Rahman took the challenge in proceeding the authority in plaiting the strong unity between the people in Malaya that vary in races and religions. The three main races in Malaysia which are Malay, Chinese and Indian are still in good sibling-relationship till today. Then Tunku kept progressing his vision in bringing Malaysia standing in the eyes of the world. The organization of ASEAN is one of the achievement.
The second prime minister, Tun Abdul Razak showed that Malaysia kept developing either in city or in country-side. Agricultural Revolution was began and RISDA has been organized to help the sector as the core of economic in our country. The peaceful and stabilization of the country under Tun Hussein Onn's government attracted the foreign 's invesment. Who can expect that Malaysia would be the biggest exporter of semi-conductor and the third biggest exporter of air conditioner in the world!
July 1981, Tun Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad replaced the previous prime minister to firm their vision that have been done. He did not take a long period before he started to progress many agressive plan and at the meantime, proceed the privious efforts of prime ministers. Many policy and concept have been intoduced such as Look East Policy, Vision 2020 and so on. National Car Project has been announced in 1983 and two years later, the first Malaysia's car which is proton saga were proudly driven by Malaysians. Then sky-scrapper buildings are continuosly developed. Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) one of the most well-known building in Malaysian which brings her name standing in the eyes of the world. Not only that, Kuala Lumpur Tower is one of the highest tower in the world other than KLCC.

The current prime minister, Dato' Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, also take forward the responsibility in order to make his beloved country standing as high as other progressive countries like Japan, United State of America and more. Some of the plan that still in progress is Nothern Corridor Economic Region (NCER), East Corridor Economic Region (ECER), Sabah Development Corridor (SDC) and Sarawak Corridor Renewable Energy (SCORE) show that Malaysia is step forward in developing our country.
As a conclusion, Malaysia brings a lot of development after Merdeka. The consequences of Merdeka show us many positive impacts but at the meantime, some negative impacts have made Malaysia a little bit 'dirty'. Who can be blamed for this? Do not blame anybody. We as Malaysian should take the responsibility together to destroy all the 'dirts' in order to make Malaysia a 'clean' country or in 'Merdeka' state.
